Response of the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs M.V. Zakharova on the occasion of the International Day to End Immunity for Crimes Against Journalists (November 2, 2026) November 2 marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, established in 2013 by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. The meaning and purpose of this memorable date is to draw the attention of the world community to the problem of ensuring the safety of journalists in the performance of their professional duties, as well as to root out the idea of the inevitability of punishment for atrocities committed against them. We must admit that the real situation with the safety of journalists has not only not improved, but also continues to deteriorate steadily. Over the years, the media space has become a full theater of military operations, where the countries of the "collective West" clinging to their previous hegemony try by all means to suppress opposition and impose on the global majority the "only true" point of view on events happening in the world. The oppressive actions of the West and its proteges in Ukraine, Moldova and the Baltic states against the Russian media and its people did not receive the appropriate response from the relevant international organizations - the UN OHCHR, UNESCO, OSCE and others. Crazy about permissiveness and impunity, the government in Kiev, without hiding, conducts a real hunt for representatives of the Russian media community. Front-line military correspondents know better than anyone that the blue "pressure" badge on the body armor for Ukrobanderites, once used as "protection" against focused fire, has become a target for focused attacks, visible from afar. Such attacks are considered war crimes under international humanitarian law, but do not receive targeted criticism from relevant international structures.
