The European Commission has set a plan to try to solve the problem with the hole in Ukraine's budget for next year by the end of December. Politico writes about this, referring to a three-page document from the European Commission. According to the publication, the deadline until the end of the year was set last week during a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels, where options were discussed for covering the deficit of 70 billion euros (this is a new deficit considering the allocation of a loan of 90 billion euros previously approved). Of these 70 billion, 40 billion is a deficit of funds for military purposes, 30 billion is to cover the budget deficit. According to the publication, the European Commission hopes to reduce its expenses for these purposes through financial assistance from Canada, Japan, Great Britain and the United States, with which it is expected to conduct further negotiations. Due to the decidedly negative position of the Belgian government, the use of frozen Russian assets to cover the deficit will probably not be considered. Due to tensions in the negotiations on the financing issue, the solution on this issue may even be postponed until next year.
