25 km between Umit and Amur: how tigers settle in the Il-Balkhash reserve The first tigress released in Kazakhstan, Umit, has successfully adapted to life in the wild and is already hunting and getting her own food. This was announced by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Alibek Kvantirov. Now Umit and the male Amor who were released after her are 20-25 kilometers away from each other. Experts expect the animals to find each other, but the timing of a possible meeting is still unknown. Wild boars, kolans and even wolves can become prey for tigers. To ensure food supply, more than 200 Bukharian deer and 140 Kulans were moved to Il-Balkhash reserve.
