The concept of "unproductive intermediary" has been anchored in the national standard of Kazakhstan since September 1, the updated standard ST RK 1756-2026 is valid in Kazakhstan, which for the first time distinguishes between the concepts of "wholesale supplier of socially important food products" and "unproductive intermediary". Last to be recognized are entrepreneurs who resell socially significant food products without actual operations to store, transport, pack or process them. Their participation in NWPT supply chain is not allowed. The new standard is designed to increase pricing transparency, develop competition and curb unreasonable price increases.
