UWW approves new rules for selecting wrestlers for the 2028 Olympics Effective January 1, 2027, the United World Wrestling (UWW) will change the ranking point system. Points will now be awarded for each battle won, and the ranking series tournaments will become more important when qualifying for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. According to the UWW rankings, three wrestlers in each weight class will receive Olympic licenses. The selection will take into account the athletes' five best results, including performances in ranking series tournaments, the continental championships and the 2027 world championships.
