Stadler passenger cars will enter Kazakhstan routes after a series of delays The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has set the launch dates for the long-awaited Swiss-made Stadler passenger trains. The first trains will hit the tracks in mid-November 2026: starting from November 11, the updated train No. 3/4 will start running between Norli Jul and Almaty-2 stations, and from November 13, line No. 153/154 will connect the capital's Norli Jul station to the city of Sami. The wide-ranging agreement provides for the supply of 557 units of rolling stock until 2030, along with the provision of long-term service by the European manufacturer. The launch of the equipment on the track was preceded by a series of delays - the integration of the Swiss wagons into the railway network of the republic was postponed at least four times. Initially, the delivery of a batch of more than 50 cars was planned for the last year of 2025, but the start was postponed due to litigation surrounding the operation of the brake mechanisms, the fact of the problems of which the manufacturer completely denied. In the spring of 2026, the relevant office referred to an inconsistency in the technical regulations of the two countries, and in the summer, despite Stadler's report of successful tests, acceptance was again frozen for safety tests and refinement of structural elements. The next transfer took place in September due to an unplanned equipment testing cycle.
