Tajikistan has established itself in the international arena as a participant in technological progress, proven by the AICONF-2026 forum held in Dushanbe on October 30-31. The initiative came from the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, but the scope of events went far beyond the department's typical format. About 200 guests from more than 20 countries gathered in Dushanbe, including government agencies, international organizations, investors, and technology companies. They included representatives of OpenAI, NVIDIA, Google, Microsoft, and Revolut. According to the organizers, representatives of more than 90 companies participated in the conference. The focus shifted from simple talk about technology to the real implementation of artificial intelligence in the economic sphere and strengthening global ties. We talked about ways of developing artificial intelligence, its capabilities in various industries, and methods for improving interaction. At the same time, Tajikistan arrived with its own ambitious program. Earlier, in 2022, the country became the first among Central Asian nations to approve the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence, calculated up to 2040. Today, it is revising the document to increase the target contribution of the industry to GDP from 5% to 8%. On the unofficial side of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Holikzoda Hokim touched upon foreign political issues. The Dushanbe initiative led the UN General Assembly to declare the International Day for Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, which will begin its annual celebration on August 31, 2027. The final chord was the active signing of contracts: the AICONF-2026 conference was planned to conclude more than 20 cooperation agreements in the field of artificial intelligence, the volume of which exceeded 1 billion dollars.
