The Parliament of Belarus approved the agreement with Uzbekistan Deputies in Minsk supported the first reading of the ratification of the agreement with Uzbekistan on the temporary employment of Uzbek citizens in Belarus. The document was signed in July during Shevkat Mirziyov's visit. Minister of Labor Andrei Lubovitch explained the need for manpower: unemployment is 1.9%, employment among working-age people is 85.3%, there are about 130,000 jobs in the vacancy bank. There are not enough internal reserves, so relying on organized recruitment is a new mechanism for Belarus. The program is in two stages. First, the Immigration Agency of Uzbekistan selects people who will match the employer's request, agrees on the list and prepares them for departure: explains the conditions, presents them with the draft contract, conducts a medical examination and checks the border crossing restrictions. Then, in Belarus, the employer registers the new entrants for immigration, receives permission from the Ministry of the Interior (for certain professions - a language test) and concludes an employment contract. Payment, taxes and insurance are according to the laws of Belarus. According to Lubovitch, the ratification will accelerate the filling of vacant positions that are not filled by locals and will help businesses to hire employees quickly.
