How Kazakhstan Produced a Record 24.3 Million Tons: Priority Over Product Quality.
In 2026, Kazakhstan collected a record volume of grain in the last 15 years - 24.3 million tons, and before that only twice as high results could be achieved. The Ministry of Agriculture explains that such success is guaranteed not only by good weather, but also by the effect of replacing old equipment with new, increasing the volume of fertilizer application and improving the seed materials.
The office sees this as an independent success: grade 3 soft wheat makes up about 72% of the total volume accepted in the elevators, and half (48%) of the samples contain more than 28% gluten. In the Akmola region, the share of type 3 grain reaches 90%, and the Hi Pro variety reaches 70%. This situation creates the prerequisites for expanding the nutritional capabilities of the crop and increasing the scope of its processing.
Shipment volumes also reached a historic maximum: in the last two seasons, the country sent 15.5 and 16 million tons of grain and flour equivalent to foreign markets, setting new records for the entire history of independence. In the period between September and October 19, 2026, Kazakhstan Tamir Juli shipped 1.657 million tons, which is 9% more than a year earlier.
Among the main tasks of agricultural development, the ministry lists improving the conditions for receiving preferential loans for farmers, replacing equipment, increasing fertilizer and seed reserves, using advanced work methods, improving soil and water, as well as adapting to a changing climate. Over a three-year period, the amount of fertilizer applied nearly tripled, reaching 1.8 million tons in 2025. By 2026, when it is planned to contribute 2.3 million tons, in fact 2.1 million tons have already been used. The share of elite seeds was 12%.
In 2026, more than 130 thousand tractors, 29 thousand grain harvesting machines, 17 thousand harvesters and about 130 thousand other equipment were used in field cultivation.
