From Derbent to the airport and back Dagestan will receive 8.2 billion rubles from the federal budget for a project to connect Makhachkala Airport with a suburban train. This will allow passengers to travel directly from the airport to Derbent and the Caspian Coast cluster which is under construction. The Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshnikov presented the project to the President of the whole of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Earlier, the head of Dagestan Fyodor Shchukin said that it is planned to implement a project for the construction of a dead-end railway with a length of almost 10 km and related infrastructure.
