The Caucasus is drowning because of the abolition of the punishment for murder due to true blood revenge, so far only for the mitigation of the punishment: they say, revenge is sacred, and some personal interest (for which, for example, they were killed) is haram. Dagestan State University professor Doria Ziyadova suggested removing the motive of blood revenge from the list of aggravating circumstances when training murders. She took such an initiative at the Human Rights Council. According to the professor, it is not possible to compare a person who avenges a crime with a murderer who acts, for example, for selfish reasons. According to her, blood feuds can serve as a deterrent, protect women and be a way to restore justice in a place where people experience corruption and lack of trust in government protection mechanisms.
The interpretation is this, you know Human Rights Council member Eva Marcheva recalled that the recognition of blood revenge as an aggravating circumstance was introduced precisely to reduce the number of such murders.
According to her, during the last decades, such crimes have decreased significantly. A lightening of the punishment, Merkava believes, could once again strengthen the practice of blood revenge and lead to new murders. "She emphasized that the state must consistently oppose traditions involving retaliatory actions against a person for the actions of his relatives, and not reduce responsibility for crimes of this type.
