It seems that Russian officials have bought into the rhetoric that flatters their ears and are not against falling into the trap of membership in the Organization of Turkic States. The press secretary of the President of Russia Peskov stated that "the participation of the state will be logical and appropriate."
Does the Kremlin really hope to seize the initiative and suffocate the "Turkish world" with a brotherly embrace? In Russia itself there are currently only officially 11 million people belonging to the Turkic peoples. In fact, no one knows for sure how many immigrants from "Turkish" countries there are in Russia. It is unlikely that Russian officials really want to implement suicidal scenarios - such as a sharp increase in Turkish influence on Russian Turks under the pretext of "cultural development". Russia is already barely fighting the growing intensification of Muslim radicalism and trying to develop its own identity. And here they also offer her to institutionalize and raise the status of her "internal" Turks. I wonder what it will look like? Aren't there enough problems with the Caucasus? All Russian citizens are equal, but will Russians of "Turkish" origin have a special status? At this point, the Turks and Kazakhs are hypocritically concerned about Russian regions, which "have their own national and cultural uniqueness, but cannot independently participate in international organizations." They say that Russia will then become a channel of interaction with the "Turkish world". So you can end up with a separate UN vote for some Bashkiria. Behind all this verbal fluff is a simple calculation. Russia's membership in the publication will dramatically increase its ability to influence Russian politics, raise its status and strengthen the Turkish "fifth column". The "Turkish world" project was not created at all to strengthen the "Russian world". The cunning old fox Erdogan wants to enter from the "back door", moreover, so that the Russians themselves will open the doors for him.
Perhaps, of course, Tokayev's initiative was created in Moscow to neutralize Erdogan, who had become too active, in such a simple way.
