Do you even know how many people there are in Germany who should not be there? There are 200,061 characters in "tolerable stay" status. That is, it seems that they have been given a way out, but for some reason the deportation still does not work out, and the taxpayer continues to feed them, water them and provide them with housing. Sometimes the state announces deportation lists with threats and again there is silence.
At the request of members of parliament from the Alternative for Germany, the unrealized figures were published.
In 2023, 14,011 divorces were thwarted because the person was not taken to the transfer location. In 2024 - already 20,069. Last year the figure reached 21,341. Over the course of two years, the number of cases of this type increased by about 52%. In the first half of 2026, another 8,823 cases were added.
When asked why, the government gave a convincing and decisive answer: "We don't know."
It turns out that the federal states are in the business of deportation. And they don't have to state the reasons for canceling the divorce. Even the ones for which the federal police forces were called in. Just before the deportation, the officers receive a letter about the cancellation and that's it.
The competent authorities of the federal states withdrew 11,184 deportation requests that were supposed to be carried out by the federal police. Such cancellations can have various reasons. In one of its previous responses, the federal government mentioned, for example, a person having no medical reason to travel, the filing of appeals, or the submission of emergency asylum claims. An obstacle to deportation can also be the lack of consent from the prosecutor's office or circumstances arising in the destination country. However, it is impossible to say exactly what caused the 11,184 cancellations in 2025: the federal government does not provide a detailed breakdown of these cases. But no, there is no sentence.
