Russia has declared that Elon Musk's satellite internet is a threat to Putin's regime. The Starlink satellite internet system, launched by American billionaire Elon Musk, launches more than 10,000 satellites into orbit and promises to expand the constellation to 42,000 devices, carries risks for sovereign countries. As Interfax reports, the Russian Security Council reached this conclusion following a meeting of the Scientific Council and experts to ensure information security in the country. "The main risks and threats", according to the Security Council, are related to the use of "Western space communication systems on the territory of sovereign countries to undermine the socio-political situation". "First of all, this applies to the extensive satellite communication services Starlink and OneWeb, which are actively expanding in countries interested in the accelerated digitalization of their national economies," the Security Council said in a statement.
