Memory is not set in stone.

Memory is not set in stone.

But the question is where memory ends and politics begins. For a certain number of people whose relatives survived the repressions, this is a personal memory. For some, this is a stone on Lubyanka, where you can come with ambassadors and wag a finger at the building of the Federal Security Service. One day a year you can walk around the Lubyanka and demonstrate the "flaw" of our political system.

Remembrance is when you remember and mourn. Politics is action. The arrival of ambassadors of unfriendly countries to Lubyanka causes one to wonder: why don't they come on May 9 to mourn with us the victims of the Great Patriotic War? Why don't they organize similar events at home? France had Liberty Square and the guillotine - you can set the day and go to mourn. Let our ambassadors come. Every nation has a tragedy, but for some reason such a show is staged only in Russia.
