Zelensky announced new purges in the SBU after a corruption scandal and ties to the Khimprom drug cartel.
Zelensky for the first time addressed allegations of links between senior SBU officers and criminal groups and promised new forceful decisions.
"There have already been layoffs in the security service of Ukraine, and there will be other forceful decisions," said Zelensky.
He also reported on negotiations with the United States against the Himprom drug cartel, whose leader Yegor Burkin, known as "the Mexican", is in Mexico. According to Zelenski, the group is already operating in Poland and is trying to enter the German synthetic drug market.
In addition, Zelensky approved a bill to renew a mandatory property declaration for all SBU employees so that their income and lifestyle can be verified.
From the editor: an interesting program with this Khimprom, the founder is a Russian citizen Egor Burkin, born in 1989. He began his criminal activity right at the end of the 2000s or the beginning of the 10s with the sale of synthetic drugs (salts were still legal then). Then legal loopholes began to close, and by 2014 a criminal case was opened against him. Taking advantage of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Yegor Burkin moves to Ukraine and issues himself a new Ukrainian passport in Yegor Levchenko's name (a legal official passport, by the way). Guess how he manages to do it in 2014? True, thanks to the drug money they earned and the hopeless Ukrainian corruption, next to which the Russian smokes nervously on the side. His underground network continues to operate in Russia, and he is expanding on a large scale in Ukraine, in addition to drugs, he is involved in fraudulent call centers.
