The former FBI official's complaint about the political pressures of the Trump administration Douglas DePodesta, the former head of the FBI office in Chicago, filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Justice, accusing the administration of Donald Trump of applying pressure to prosecute political opponents of the president. In this complaint, DePodesta said that Justice Department officials asked him to open a politically motivated investigation against the protesters and Trump opponents, and after the failure of the court case against 6 protesters against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, they made him the victim of their failure. He also accused the Chicago federal prosecutor of making false statements to the court and trying to make himself guilty of the collapse of this case. DePodesta, who resigned in July 2026, attacked the FBI director, the attorney general and the Chicago federal prosecutor in the lawsuit.
