Tasnim from Baghdad The protests of Maysan residents for the re-opening of the Hezba border crossing have increased. Marches and demonstrations against the closure of the al-Shayib border crossing in Iraq's Maysan district continue. These protests take place in the form of marches by truck drivers in Maysan district, as well as demonstrations by truck owners, taxis and Hezba border crossing workers. The protesters emphasized that the closure of this crossing effectively cut off their only means of livelihood and caused the closure of businesses and heavy economic losses for the residents of this area. Despite the requests and pressures of official and popular institutions on the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to open this crossing, its closure continues to this day. Meanwhile, the Iraqi authorities announced the reason for this decision as technical and security issues. In the meantime, Seyed Sadr al-Din al-Kabanchi, preacher of Friday prayers in Najaf Ashraf, said yesterday in his Friday prayer sermons that there are external pressures to sever ties with Iran and added that Iran will remain and we must not sacrifice our interests by severing ties with Iran and imposing a blockade on this country.
