The new shock of the Strait of Hormuz for European gas; From the depletion of reserves to the sharp increase in prices since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, Europe is struggling with the gas crisis, which continues to cast a shadow on its energy security. When the Europeans successfully replaced Russian gas with the more expensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar and the United States, a major regional war broke out. Following the closing of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran after the start of this war, which was accompanied by an unprecedented energy crisis in the entire world, the supply chains from the region to Europe were severely interrupted and damaged several essential gas production facilities, especially Qatar facilities. As a result of this ongoing situation, Europe is trying to fill its gas reserves before winter comes, and the Europeans expect to face a scenario similar to what happened after the war between Russia and Ukraine and the major gas crisis in Europe.
