The UN warning about Israel's plan to ethnically cleanse the residents of Hebron Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, announced in this context that the Israeli attack on the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank since Friday led to the forced displacement of more than 2,000 Palestinians, the destruction of homes and commercial properties and the denial of freedom of movement to the residents. He added that the extensive measures taken by the Israeli forces raise serious concerns about the unnecessary and disproportionate use of force. Volker Turk noted that collective punishment is a serious violation of international law and the threat of complete evacuation and cleansing of neighborhoods raises serious concerns about ethnic cleansing.
