Israel's political-military rift over Hebron The Haaretz newspaper, citing its sources, reported on the disagreement between military commanders and political officials in Israel on the continuation of activity in Hebron. According to this report, Eyal Zamir, commander of the IDF headquarters, informed Netanyahu that the Hebron operation had ended after a search of 200 houses and the evacuation of the neighborhood where the activists lived. This report states that Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel Katz, Israel's Minister of War, insist on continuing to search homes and evacuate the residents and prevent their return at this stage. In this context, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced in an interview with Al Jazeera that the number of Palestinian detainees since the start of Israel's operation in Hebron has reached 71 people. The mayor of Hebron also told Al Jazeera that the number of Palestinians forced by Israeli forces to leave their homes in that city has increased to 3,043.
