The German Aid to Ukraine project noted the use of German-made HK416 assault rifles by Ukrainian special forces, including forces of the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to the latest official data, Germany delivered 4,750 of these rifles to Ukraine by April 2025, after which it stopped publishing detailed information on the supply of military equipment. In particular, German-made rifles were seen in special forces "Arten", 13, "Bratsto", Triton and other intelligence agency units, as well as in special operations forces and military police. Meanwhile, some units began to introduce these weapons on a regular basis only from 2026, which researchers attribute to the delivery of new groups of rifles. The HK416 rifle uses a NATO standard 5.56mm bullet and an automatic system with a gas discharge and short piston movement. Germany supplies several models of the rifle to Ukraine, including models structurally close to the latest model HK416A8, which is in service with the German Federal Army under the designation G95.
