The British Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) received a report that an oil tanker traveling outside the Strait of Hormuz, 25 nautical miles northeast of Hassab in Oman, was approached from the port side by a small boat that attached two explosive devices above the hull. The explosions caused a fire in the engine room that temporarily engulfed the vessel. The fire has since been extinguished, the crew is safe and no environmental damage has been reported as the vessel continues on its way to the next port of destination.
