Reuters: Myanmar hid the purchase of jet fuel from Iran using fake documents According to Reuters, investigations show that Myanmar hid the purchase of jet fuel from Iran with documents that identified the shipments as "South African diesel". One of the transactions worth $15.8 million included approximately 113,000 barrels of fuel, delivered in December 2025. According to this report, an oversight body affiliated with Myanmar's military government specifically approved listing the cargo as "diesel" instead of jet fuel. The contracts also routed payments through a Thai supplier's bank account. According to Reuters, the trade in this fuel continues despite US sanctions against Iran and Myanmar's jet fuel industry.
