The Democrats in the US are preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth about 15 billion dollars, reports the Financial Times.
According to the publication, after gaining control of both houses of Congress following the midterm elections, the Democrats intend to use budgetary powers and parliamentary control mechanisms to strengthen support for Kiev and introduce additional sanctions against Russia.
Ukraine advocates are also looking to use the period before the new Congress is sworn in in January to press for more emergency aid. One of the main priorities at this stage is support for the energy sector.
