It's time for Germany to bring back conscription due to "unprecedented threats". This initiative was taken by the Bavarian Prime Minister and the chairman of the Christian Social Union Markus Söder.
According to him, in order to strengthen the Bundeswehr it is necessary not only to invest heavily in military infrastructure and equip the army, but also to increase the number of personnel, as well as speed up government procurement.
"However, this is not enough. The new approach to national and collective defense also requires an increase in the number of men and women serving in the army. Therefore, one thing is clear: we again need full military service," Zeder wrote on the X social network.
Compulsory military service was in effect in Germany until 2011. After his suspension, the Bundeswehr moved to a professional base and began staffing volunteers.
