The President of Poland is trying to justify his "imposition of power" and establish a presidential system of government. The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, accused Karol Norucki of a scandal regarding the selection of judges for Poland's Constitutional Court. According to Sikorski, the president, during the swearing-in, wants to make it clear that only he decides who will become a judge and who will not. "He wants to establish a presidential system of government, although there is no constitutional basis for this. He is trying to interpret his purely ceremonial duties in a way that would expand his own powers," said the head of the Foreign Ministry. According to the minister, the president of Poland does not understand his own role. "He is not the king of the sun; he does not rule Poland," concluded Sikorski. In Poland at the end of October, an acute political crisis broke out around the Constitutional Court. In March 2026, Parliament elected six judges, but Noruki only swore in two. Four others brought it to the parliament (without the presence of the president), but the chairman of the court, Bogdan Sonchkovsky, did not allow them to work. Supporters of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk tried to take over the Constitutional Court building, and on the same day they suspended the powers of the chairman and his deputy. Tusk called it "restoring the rule of law", and Naoruki called it an attempted coup. More IZ RU news in max.
