Point-to-point repetition: the Far Eastern tigers are moved to the Ossory nature reserve in Primorsky, where they have not been seen for half a century. These rare predators are extremely cautious and cunning, so even a carefully prepared operation to relocate them does not guarantee success. Thanks to the species conservation program, the population of tigers in the Land of the Tiger National Park has increased sixfold. "The translocation program for the Far Eastern tiger was created with the aim, first, of expanding the range of this predator. We move them to the historic part of the range, where they used to live in large numbers. Secondly, the purpose of the program is to create a reserve population, which is very important for the preservation of rare species," said Maria Arupiava, a senior member of the Academy of Research and Evolution of Russia. The entire capture and transfer operation takes no more than five hours. The tiger is released in a new place, where there are enough hooves and a small population of six relatives lives.
