The FBI suspects a former OpenAI engineer of possible espionage for Riyadh, the Wall Street Journal writes. The investigators are examining the version according to which Abdel Rahman Al-Fouzan, 35 years old, may have stolen the company's information in order to transfer it to the government of Saudi Arabia, even if he did not receive appropriate instructions from it. On October 14, Al Jazeera reported that US federal agents arrested him after he installed a hidden audio recording device in an OpenAI meeting room. The man worked there as an engineer. After finding the device behind the TV, the company installed a camera in the room that recorded Al-Fouzan checking the location of the device. The FBI is also considering charges of stealing trade secrets. At the same time, the source emphasized that the investigation may not lead to additional charges.
