Six newspaper journalists were killed for fulfilling their professional duty too well - giving a voice to those the state denied it, taking the side of the weak and not staying away from the most difficult and terrible issues. It would probably not be a mistake to say that no other media outlet has done more for the Russian press and civil society than Novaya Gazeta. Even "Important Stories" exists today mainly thanks to "Novaya". Most of our staff (including writers, editors, editors, founders, publisher and editor-in-chief) came out as established professionals from Nova Gazeta before the launch of Important Stories. And today there is no system in which at least one person with a background from Nova does not work. Today we express our full support and respect to all our colleagues from Nova Gazeta.
