South Africa's ruling party is on the verge of losing its historic hegemony in local elections.
The preliminary results of the local elections in South Africa show that after counting 72% of the votes, the share of the "African National Congress" party reached 31.94%. "Democratic Coalition" is in second place with 24.76% and leads in 6 out of 8 large cities.
🔹 Dissatisfaction with crime, corruption and wear and tear of water and electricity services were cited as reasons for the decline in votes for the ruling party. The official results should be published on Sunday, and the lack of an absolute majority in several central cities requires the establishment of local coalitions.
