Keihan Barzger stated on IRNA's diplomacy program:
🎥 Iran does not want a nuclear agreement due to an unequal political position / the Strait of Hormuz is still an important bargaining lever for Iran.
We went through two difficult wars. In fact, we need to decide what we want, restore our deterrence position, know our regional position and see where we stand. We also need to find a balance in terms of governance and then decide what we really want.
🔹 In my opinion, achieving a nuclear agreement with America is currently a difficult task; But the nuclear program is of course still important in terms of negotiating leverage.
The nuclear program is still a bargaining lever; However, a new and stronger bargaining lever has emerged for Iran, aka the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has proven that it has skills in this field. This issue is related to geography and the possibility of closing a strait and the unconventional control over it; Which countries that have experience in war can naturally do. In this sense, the nuclear program can be a bargaining lever if they want to act in the form of a consortium or by helping Iran revive its nuclear program. I think there are discussions in these areas. Of course, Iran is currently saying that it is not talking about the nuclear program at this time. But maybe there is an interim solution.
