On Sunday, the Turkish president fired one of his top advisers in order to restore relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan after the controversy surrounding the hijab ban in schools.

According to IRNA's Middle East Eye report, Oktay Sarel, one of Recep Tayyip Erdogan's top advisers, confirmed his dismissal in a conversation with Middle East Eye.

Middle East Eye claimed that Seral was removed in order to meet the demands of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to end the crisis between the two countries that share ethnic, cultural, religious and historical ties.
