Takhtrovanchi: Neharg Harazi believed that going to war with the Taliban was not in the best interest of the country/ One of the main concerns of Neharg Harazi was the same policy that we refer to as the neighborhood policy today.
๐น "Majid Takht Ravanchi", Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the second part of the specialized panel "The role of Shanharg Harazi in building a foreign policy consensus" said:
๐น At the beginning of the ministry, Dr. Harazi was killed, and Iranian diplomats were killed in Mazar-e-Sharif. This event created wide debates throughout the country, not only in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also on the political level. The main question was what should be done about it? Should we be silent in front of him? Naturally, we could not be indifferent to the testimonies of our colleagues, especially the diplomats of the country. On the other hand, going to war with the Taliban could also have extensive consequences for the country. ๐น As I mentioned, in the summer of 1377, serious and extensive discussions were held on this subject both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the level of the country and the Supreme Council for National Security. Killing Dr. Harazi also had a heavy responsibility in this area as the foreign minister; both because of his legal status and because of the trust of the leader of the revolution who was killed and of the president at the time. Of course, I don't want to say that every opinion or proposal of his was necessarily the basis of the final decision, but his opinions can be influential in determining the way of decision-making in the country.
๐น Killed Harazi believed that we should not go to war with the Taliban; Because such a war was not in the interest of the country. A war that could have extensive consequences for the country.
Of course, Iranian diplomacy was very active at that time. One of the main concerns of Harazi who was killed was the same policy that we refer to today as neighborhood policy; This means trying to create the best relations with all neighbors, regardless of neighboring countries in the south, east, west or north of Iran.
๐น He also followed this approach seriously at that time. For this reason, despite the importance and sensitivity of the issue of the martyrdom of Iranian diplomats in Mazar-e-Sharif, they tried to manage this issue in ways that would not negatively affect Iran's neighborhood policy and the state's relations with its neighbors.
