Al-Akhbariya Iraq exclusive interview with Sayyed Abbas Iraqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Moderator: Despite America's clear statement of opposition, it is said that negotiations between Iran and America are continuing, albeit indirectly. Are negotiations really underway?
Dr. Irakchi: Yes, our negotiations with the American side through intermediary countries, including Pakistan and Qatar, continue continuously. Earlier, we presented an initiative called the Seven Day Program to the American side, in which we clearly stated our conditions. The Strait of Hormuz was to be fully opened on the sixth day of this period. The Americans have informed us that they agree to these terms, but they want to add a few more clauses to it.
Moderator: What are the additional conditions that the Americans proposed?
Dr. Iraqchi: We are not going to negotiate through your network.
Moderator: Are these security or economic conditions? Can you at least tell me their general title? ๐น Dr. Irakchi: These conditions are related to the issues we discussed in the past during the previous negotiations. What we want from the American side is to meet all the commitments contained in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding that was signed earlier. Once they meet these obligations, we can enter into negotiations on other cases. In the final stage of the negotiation, any issue or issues raised by both parties can be discussed and a final agreement reached.
