The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the question "What is the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Russia's proposal for the participation of the countries of the Persian Gulf region, Jordan and the permanent members of the Security Council in ensuring the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz? He said:

🔹 The discussion on Russia's proposal was interrupted by the media. The issue raised by Russia was that Iran, China and Russia have each presented plans for collective security and safety in the Persian Gulf region, and Russia is also pursuing this issue.

🔹 We know that Russia has made proposals to strengthen the collective security mechanisms in the Persian Gulf region and in West Asia in general for several years and is following up on this topic on appropriate occasions. 🔹 The principle according to which the countries of the region should trust the countries of that region to ensure their security, and not the actors who have proven that they do not attach any value and importance to the real security of the countries of the region, and whose only concern is to ensure the security of the aggressor and development, is approved by us.

🔹 But the fulfillment of this goal requires that the countries of the region begin the process of building trust among themselves and be able to achieve a reliable security mechanism away from foreign pressure and intrusion by the US and other factors that do not affect the security of the countries of the region.
