๐Ÿ”น "Hamid Vafai", a researcher in the field of China and a member of the faculty of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Tehran, on Monday, October 27, at the international conference on half a century of diplomatic relations between Iran and the People's Republic of China and in the panel "The Paradigm Change of China Studies in the Western World and its Effects" said:

My discussion is about the nature of Chinese studies in the Western world and its effects on Iranian Chinese studies. If we examine the history of Chinese studies in the world, we must consider the past of about 400 years; Since then, Westerners, especially the Jesuits, began to study China. These people were Christian missionaries affiliated with the Catholic Church. One of the most prominent of them was Matteo Ricci, who went to China and went through many difficulties. There is also a book called "Chinama" which was translated into Persian by Muhammad Nakash during the Qajar period. I recommend reading this book to friends; It is worth reading for us, even though its author suffered many hardships to travel to China.
