austerity, inequality and impasse; A review of the roots of the dissatisfaction of the young generation in Europe

Hadi Nadri - IRNA reporter The wave of protests that began in high schools in France, along with signs of youth dissatisfaction in several European countries, once again highlighted the economic pressures, educational gaps and housing and employment difficulties as common challenges of the new generation on this continent. These days, the streets of France are the biggest arena of empowerment of the movement that started just a few weeks ago behind the doors of some high schools in the suburbs of Paris. Yesterday, more than 250,000 students, teachers, parents and their supporters took to the streets across the country, and the student union announced that more than half of France's approximately 3,700 high schools were closed. Official statistics show more than 6,100 arrests since the protests began, most of them people under the age of 18. At least 215 teenagers, 85 school workers and more than 700 police officers have been injured in the clashes of the past few weeks. Irena Jahan
