Zarif: Our fundamental problem, both inside and outside Iran, is a lack of recognition
Mohammad Javad Zarif, former Foreign Minister, said:
๐น I believe that our fundamental problem, both inside and outside Iran, which has led to so many conflicts, is recognition. Recently, an article of mine was published in the British Journal of Middle East Studies, in which I addressed this issue of cognitive imbalance. Cognitive dissonance is one of these dissonances. How did this cognitive dissonance cause America to think it could force Iran to struggle through threats?
๐น In an interview, I said that four bombs landed in civilian areas in Lamerd. These bombs exploded at a higher altitude, like the Hiroshima bomb. These missiles exploded before hitting the ground and each had 180,000 fragments. This means a total of 720,000 fragments. These fragments hit civilians. It is a pity that Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of these missiles, tested them in Lamerd and on our children, and a week later received an 8.4 billion dollar order to produce those lethal missiles from the US army.
๐น But if you go to Lamerd today, you will face a reality that the Americans did not understand. One of my colleagues, Dr. Reza Nasri, went to Lamerd two weeks ago with Dr. Baghai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said that if in the country, on average, nearly 60% of people are in favor of negotiations, in Lamerd, 70% of people oppose negotiations. The Americans did not understand this fact; they think they can force Iran to surrender through pressure and threats.
