Hormuz's back-breaking crisis for supertankers; The cost of transporting oil has increased 8 times
The latest figures from the Baltic Stock Exchange show that chartering a supertanker called a "VLCC" to transport American oil to Asia now costs about $77 million.
The online newspaper "IBTimes" based in Manhattan, USA, wrote in a report that due to the disturbances created in the Strait of Hormuz (closed by Iran), the cost of moving oil around the world has reached unprecedented levels; the disruptions that have disrupted traditional shipping routes have limited access to tankers and added a new layer of cost to the current high crude oil prices.
