Meeting of the UN Special Representative for Lebanon with the Foreign Minister
๐น Jean Arnault, the UN representative for Lebanon, who traveled to Tehran to consult with our country's authorities, met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of our country, before noon on this Tuesday.
๐น In this meeting, Arnault presented his assessment of recent developments and the situation in Lebanon amid the ongoing captivity of prisoners and efforts to stabilize the ceasefire and end the war, expressing his hope that with the continued effective role of Iran and other regional parties, we will witness the end of the war and the establishment of peace and security in the Lebanon region.
In this meeting, the Foreign Minister of our country emphasized the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Lebanon and called for strengthening the efforts and movements of the UN to stop Israel's aggression and occupation in Lebanon. Araghchi also announced our country's readiness to continue consultation and cooperation with the UN and regional countries to help maintain the stability and security of Lebanon.
During this visit, the UN Secretary-General's representative also met separately with Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Mehdi Shoushtari, Assistant Minister and Director General for West Asia and North Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and consulted and exchanged views on developments in Lebanon and the region.
