Summoning of the French ambassador in Tehran; Iran's announcement of interception to suppress student union interceptions
Due to the violent treatment of the French government with student union interceptions and gross and widespread human rights violations, the French ambassador in Tehran, Hamid Ahmadi, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this evening.
At this summons meeting, the Director General for Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reminding the French government of its human rights obligations under relevant international conventions and documents, demanded the preservation of basic human rights and freedoms, especially the right to peaceful assembly of the French people.
๐น Hamid Ahmadi, while expressing great concern over the violent treatment by French security forces against peaceful gatherings, which resulted in the injury and disability of a number of protesters, including the blinding of some of them, as well as the arrest of more than 5,000 people, emphasized that such a level of violence against peaceful protesters cannot be justified. Hamid Ahmadi also referred to published reports and images of militant armed security forces and police entering classrooms and beating students and teachers.
Referring to the legitimate demands of the protesters to enjoy the fundamental right to education and a fair, non-discriminatory educational system in France, the Director General for Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the country's government to respect the legitimate and legal rights of French citizens, especially the new generation, and to prosecute the perpetrators of severe human rights violations.
