The Council of Ministers, headed by President Masoud Pezeshkian, approved the plan to establish the "Supreme Council for Art and Literature" upon the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance during the session on September 11, 2025.
First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref (Chairman), Seyed Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance (Secretary of the Council), Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, and two ministers upon the proposal of the Minister of Culture; Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, Head of the National Planning and Budget Organization; Zahra Behrouz Azar, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs; Peyman Jebelli, Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB); Hojatoleslam wal-Muslimin Abdolhossein Khosropanah, Secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution; Majid Shahhosseini, Head of the Academy of Arts; and Mohammad Mehdi Dadman, Head of the Islamic Propaganda Organization's Art Bureau, are among the members of the council.
