Research into torture; expansion of CIA presence in universities

🔹 US publication Jacobin: The expansion of the CIA's relationship with universities, through funding research and the presence of intelligence personnel, has blurred the line between scientific research and security purposes, raising questions about the independence of universities and their role in legitimizing interrogation and torture methods.

Several former CIA officers currently work as "professors" at universities such as Boston, Texas, and Johns Hopkins. King's College London has also hosted several former CIA officers in the guise of visiting professors, visiting researchers, and seminar speakers. This connection went so far that some war studies professors at this university used CIA publications to present their educational programs.
