Iraqi in a meeting with the UN Secretary-General: Iran has a responsible approach towards international peace and security
Sayed Abbas Iraqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is in New York to participate in the 80th annual meeting of the UN General Assembly, met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the final day of his trip.
In this meeting, the Foreign Minister of our country, while explaining the recent developments in the West Asia region following the military aggression of the US and Israel against Iran, noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the founding members of the UN, expects this organization and its member states not to be indifferent to the Security Council and the violator of the law, the permanent flag violator and the violator of the law, and to explicitly condemn the continuation of interventionist actions and illegal threats of the United States. The Foreign Minister of our country, referring to the two illegal ground attacks of America and the hostages against Iran in the middle of negotiations in less than a year, and the continuation of aggressive actions in the form of naval blockade and economic murder, emphasized Iran's determination to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity with all its might. He stated that the Iranian nation will never pass up the demand for justice and the prosecution and punishment of the leaders and perpetrators of American and Israeli war crimes.
Recalling Iran's responsible approach towards international peace and security, Iraqi noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been firm in using the tool of diplomacy to defend its national interests and ensure peace in the region, but the United States has repeatedly betrayed diplomacy over the past decade and caused insecurity in the region by violating agreements. 🔹 Iraqi also pointed to the continuation of genocide and warmongering by Israel in occupied Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and other countries in the region, and reminded the UN and Security Council of their responsibility to put an end to Israel's captivity and stop the crimes committed in Gaza and the West Bank.
Condemning the violation of the fundamental principles of the Charter, especially the use of force by powers, the UN Secretary-General emphasized the need for all countries to adhere to the principles and rules of international law and use diplomacy to solve problems.
🔹 In this meeting, mention was also made of the continuation of blatant violations of the Headquarters Agreement by the US and interference in the normal activities of the Iranian delegation, and the extent of our country's objection regarding the performance of the host government in this regard was expressed to the Secretary-General, and he was asked to take the necessary steps to compel the US government to fulfill its obligations.
