Le Monde newspaper and AFP: Dominique Simeau, the chief inspector of prisons and detention centers in France, in a report announcing that the rate of suicides in prisons in this country is one of the highest in Europe, warned that every year hundreds of people die in these places, without accurate statistics of their true number.
