The foreign ministers of Germany and Russia met for the first time after the war in Ukraine

Sergei Lavrov and Johann Wadpole, the foreign ministers of Russia and Germany, met and talked for the first time after the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, on the sidelines of the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

At this meeting, the German side emphasized the need to reach an agreement on the export of Black Sea grains in order to deal with global food insecurity and, while warning against an escalation in tensions, mentioned that events such as combined attacks would not shake Berlin's determination to support Ukraine.
