Hassan Rouhani: Diplomacy is one of Iran's sources of strength

🔹 There is no debate about the nation's need to stand up against a foreign ground attack, but the achievement of the war should go beyond repelling a ground attack, to stable security, reducing the possibility of renewed aggression and returning the country to the path of development.

My discussion was about the need for "national goals" to have the support of the people, not to hold a referendum on defense against aggression.

🔹 Iran is not the initiator of the war, and when we are attacked, we must defend ourselves. It is among the basic axioms.

Long-term national goals, in order to lead to Iran's power, wealth, peace, national unity and a higher status, need the broad support of society.

My previous words were not about the current war, and some critics, by changing the content of his words, created the impression that he sees a defense against aggression contingent on a referendum.

People should be aware of the country's long-term goals and their views should be taken into account in national decisions. Disagreement on such issues is natural and national unity should not be confused with the same opinions. We are looking for national unity, but we are not looking for the same opinion.

🔹 Political disagreement, even in the most extreme circumstances, is not a license to insult, distort speech or incite others against a person. We are the Shiites of Imam Sadiq; We must speak correctly, we must speak politely.

It should not be assumed that with the end of several stages of the conflict, the subject of the war is over. We are in the midst of a crisis; We are not out of the war yet.
