🔹 Fatemeh Umbizadeh may have lost the medal she was on her way to achieving yesterday, but the effort and struggle she showed in the heptathlon at the 2026 Asian Games did not go unnoticed by the National Olympic Committee.

🔹 According to the report of the IRNA correspondent, the young Iranian team was in second place in the standings after finishing six events out of seven competitions and winning 4,925 points, with only one event remaining until the end of the competition, conditions that made her one of the favorites to win a medal.

🔹 But later her result, due to an issue related to the shoes used in the long jump event, was disqualified from the rest of the competition by the competition officials in Delhi and Umbizadeh; a decision accompanied by the official protest of the Iranian Athletics Federation. Following this incident, Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa, the head of the National Olympic Committee, met and talked with Fatemeh Umbizadeh today at the hotel where the Iranian athletics team is staying.

Based on this and after this meeting, the National Olympic Committee decided to award this athlete the amount of two and a half billion Tomans, a prize beyond the medal that Fatemeh was on her way to winning.
