🎥 Reducing dependence on foreign seeds by developing 'hybrid numbers' in the country

Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Deputy Minister for Agricultural Jihad: Over the past two years, 120 new plant varieties have been introduced focusing on drought resistance, climate change, and biotic and abiotic stresses. The goal of these reforms is to achieve the highest yield while maintaining quality, so that today all wheat varieties produced in the country contain more than 12% protein, and in this regard we have a competitive position at the global level.

Hybrid seed production is one of the main priorities of the Seventh Development Plan. As of today, 98% of the country's main seed grains are produced by the governmental organization TAT, and only 2% are dependent, mainly related to vegetable and summer seeds.

Statistics show that the introduction of hybrid seed varieties in the country rose from 10 varieties in 1400 to 40 varieties in 1404, and a major part of this cultivation is the result of active participation of the private sector and knowledge-based companies. 🔹 So far, 10% of the planned programs in the hybrid seed field of the Seventh Development Plan have been achieved, and we hope that by accelerating this process and using all capabilities, this path will be completed successfully. Currently, the number of knowledge-based companies in this sector has reached 639.
